The big challenges are the driving force
For Danish designer Anders Nørgaard inspiration can be sparked off by a new material or developing something that doesn't simply fall into place at once. It is also quite clear from the multitude of different products he has designed, from kitchens and beds to office furniture and lamps, or cinema seats to wood-burning stoves. He is most fascinated by the sofa.
And then he is the designer of Blossom, created for applicata's collection in an organic, yet stringent design that is aesthetic as well as super-functional. Those two elements in combination are distinctive features of Anders Nørgaard's design, while all his work is based on the urge to explore and understanding basic craftsmanship.
He received the Red Dot Design Award in 2008 for his One Chair. And in the James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" the actors lounged in Anders Nørgaard's Alpha furniture series, which he designed for BoConcept.
Anders Nørgaard trained as an architect and opened his own drawing office in 1994. He has since worked in design in the widest sense, drawing furniture and practical products for BoConcept, TM Line, Kinnarps, Stouby Furniture, JydePejsen and Trip Trap.
